Finding A Job At Jamba Juice

The California based Jamba Juice restaurant retailer has over 750 locations operating worldwide. More than half the locations are company owned, with the remainder being franchises. The company was founded by healthy living enthusiast Kirk Perron in 1990. Since that time it has changed hands and menu choices. More than just a smoothie shop, Jamba Juice locations now offer wraps, sandwiches, salads, and flatbreads.

With annual sales of nearly $300 million, this is a company that is always hiring. Unlike many other retail businesses, Jamba Juice hires their Team Members on a local level. There is no online application available for submission. There is a printable application which you can access here.

The Jamba Juice corporate web site does list the jobs that are currently available at corporate, management and tech support levels, as well as team member positions available at their local retail locations. If you visit http://www.jambajuice.com/joblistings you will find all the information you need to apply for any position. There is also a store locator link which automatically lists the restaurants that are closest to you.

Because job openings are diverse, I suggest that you go through all of them to see which you qualify for. Listings include tech and support jobs, along with management and team member positions. Management positions require a 45 hour work week, the ability to work along side other team members, computer literacy and a willingness to spend time in their freezers for inventory and other purposes.

Team Member jobs are very local in terms of employment age, but most require applicants to be sixteen. Standard qualifications include a serious interest in customer service. They like enthusiastic people with great attitudes. Facial jewelry must be removed during work shifts and tatoos must be able to be covered by your work clothes. The team member jobs include serving, cleaning and other duties.

Jamba Juice restaurants are known for working well with school age employees by offering diverse work shift choices. If you are under eighteen years of age and still in school, I strongly suggest that you contact your guidance counselor or the school’s office staff to find out if you need a work permit before you even begin to apply for any job.

The Jamba Juice job application is not complicated. It is sectional and designed to collect just enough information to allow those responsible for hiring to decide whether or not the applicant meets the basic requirements to be one of their employees. The sections include Personal Information, Availability, Education, (previous) Employment Information, Professional References and the Applicant’s Statement.

My first suggestion regarding this application is to download it here and make several copies so that you can practice until you have a perfect application. Within the Personal Information area, good contact information is vital to the hiring process for the retail location and the applicant. If you have a cell phone that you keep regularly charged and answer frequently, that is the best phone number to provide on the application (although it will ask for land line and a cell phone number). You will need to know exactly what position you are applying for, so be sure to browse through the online Jamba Juice job listings carefully. If you have worked for Jamba Juice before, indicate that in the required area. Another important question asks if you have ever been convicted of a crime? If the crime is a felony, you may not be hired depending on the individual situation. If you have a felony record, there are local organizations that work with large corporations to hire convicted felons. Most of these can be contacted through a local probation department or church group.

The Availability section of the application is very important. You will need to give this area much thought and write down the exact days and hours you are available to work. The information that you provide in this area will not only affect any hiring decision, but became the working sheet for your weekly schedule if you are hired.

The education section is self explanatory, but providing the correct name and address of the high school and any college or trade schools you have attended is essential. Large companies run credit and/or back ground checks on job applicants. If a piece of information does not match up, it may cost you a chance at the job. It’s always a good idea to check the three major credit bureaus before you begin any job search to be sure the information they have about you is up to date. They are Equifax (www.eqiufax.com), Experian (www.experian.com) and TransUnion (www.transunion.com).

The Employment History and Professional References sections are those which tend to seal the deal for most job applicants. Professional References are former coworkers and managers, creditors and teachers. If you do not yet have a job history and are still in school, write STUDENT in the very first Company name box. If you have a job history, be sure to list your jobs in order and do not leave any out. Although employers look at long periods of unemployment or short periods of employment as negatives, always be honest.

The Applicant’s Statement section is merely an affirmation that all the information you have provided is true and correct. It also explains the fact that you are filling out a job application, not an employment contract. This section is more for legal reasons than anything else. Be sure to sign and correctly date your application at the bottom.
